At a recent meeting of venture capitalists, I met Damjan Obal. His product, edgartells.me, helps you tell your story. It’s fantastic in its simplicity.
You take up to 7 photos (or other images), overlay some words and it stitches together a beautiful little video which is then featured on their site but you can also embed into your site. The basic version is free, but there is an optional subscription service which allows you to add a business card at the end (directing users to your Facebook page, Twitter account, etc).
The minute I saw it I thought how perfect it was for the wine industry. On the whole, the segment is not the most technologically advanced, but this is so easy to use that it excludes nobody from making a beautiful and engaging video about their business. Obal, whose job title is the very cool Chief Storyteller, says: “If you can take pictures and type on a keyboard, then you can produce a video on edgar tells”.
So come on. Tell us a story about yourselves. Engage us in what you are doing – people love to hear the personal story. Whether you are a vineyard telling us about this year’s harvest, a wine maker informing us about a recent production, a buyer on a recent trip to Mendoza, visiting a trade show, running a wine shop, there are countless interesting stories that we’d like to hear. You can easily produce an edgar in under 10 minutes and capture our attention.
Below is an example of one winery that has already started telling us their story. Come on, tell us yours.
Feel free to post a link to your edgar in the comments below. I might even award a prize for the best one. Let’s see what you can do by 30th April 2014.
